Abbey Hill is committed to the ParentKind scheme, a Parent-Friendly Schools accreditation backed by the DfE. At its heart it is an initiative that encourages all schools to involve the parents, carers and families of its pupils as much as possible. This is something that Abbey Hill excels at and prioritises in everyday school life. Already comfortably achieving beyond standard level, the school is aiming to work through the levels with their eyes firmly on gold in recognition of ‘exceptional practice’.
A recent event, where Abbey Hill transformed into a museum for the day, caught the attention of Parent-Friendly Schools. Rachael Smith, Service Lead, commented: “Abbey Hill Primary and Nursery School is the top-performing school in the country, as recognised by our Parent-Friendly Schools accreditation. It comes as no surprise that the school, which achieved over 40% above the national benchmark, is delivering such a wonderful event.”
Mr Jevons-Newman explained “We are completely committed to the inclusion of parents and carers in school life, by opening our doors and involving them in their children’s learning and school experience. It’s important that the pupils have an audience they want to impress too – having their families integrated with school life is a great motivator for them.”
ParentKind is a really valuable resource for schools, parents and pupils. As well as running the Parent-Friendly scheme, it also supports schools to embed well with their local communities through strong PTA support as well as parent participation and much more.
