Starting the new year with Ofsted success across Transform Trust

The Transform Trust family of schools has worked tirelessly for our children and the communities we serve and continue to strive to deliver the very best learning experiences every single day. We are delighted to have received a Good or Outstanding judgement across all schools inspected under the new Ofsted framework at the end of 2021. All of our schools are starting 2022 with such positivity and ambition and this has been compounded across the group after receiving such glowing reports from Ofsted. We are so proud of all of our schools and their constant drive for improvement and the tremendous results they have achieved to date.

Breadsall Hill Top Primary School

Breadsall Hill Top is on top of the world as its OFSTED report charts its rise from Inadequate in 2017 to Good in November 2021. Since joining the Trust in 2017 it truly has become a school that nurtures kindness and respect, which the recent Ofsted report recognises in its opening statement: “Pupils are happy and enjoy being at Breadsall”. It goes on to highlight a significant rise in the standards of pupils’ behaviour and the relentless focus on pupil safety and wellbeing. The hard work of every member of staff on this incredible journey was noted as they “work hard to make sure pupils are looked after, happy and prepared to learn”. United and proud to be part of the Transform Trust family, their ambitious staff team has “created a culture where pupils come first” and they have ambitious plans to continue delivering excellent outcomes for their children.

Lawn Primary School

Lawn Primary School has continued its relentless pursuit for excellence resulting in retaining an Outstanding judgement from Ofsted in December 2021. They are one of only 13 Primary schools in Derbyshire to achieve this prestigious status. Lawn Primary School’s report highlights its new “global curriculum” and how it gives its children a sense of global citizenship. The hard work of every member of staff on this incredible journey was noted throughout and reported as: “staff work hard to make sure pupils are looked after, happy and prepared to learn”. Lawn’s provision for children with special needs and disabilities (SEND) was showcased as a particular strength and enables all children to flourish.

Pear Tree Community Junior School

Pear Tree Community Junior School has wowed Ofsted, the media and the local community with its rise to Good in all areas for the first time since opening in 2004. Welcomed into the Transform family in 2017, after its third Inadequate, this school has been on an immense improvement journey. The dedication and commitment of the staff and their collaborative spirit with parents and the community has been duly noted. Ofsted declared  ‘This school is a Transformed school and leaders have worked tirelessly to improve outcomes [and] leaders have created a culture where pupils are deeply cared for’.  Remarking on its delivery of excellent education the inspectors also congratulated the school on its inclusive ‘broad and balanced’ curriculum and made several references to the school’s ‘high expectations’ and ambitions for ‘what pupils can achieve’ – quoting Pear Tree Leaders ‘‘we don’t put a lid on any of our learners” verbatim and reinforcing the point: ‘Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) access the same curriculum as other pupils’

Relaxed and engaged in their ‘calm’ learning environment pupils impressed inspectors with their ‘ready, respectful and responsible’ attitude to learning and spoke confidently and enthusiastically about school life and post school aspirations to become ‘teachers, police officers and nurses’. Their Mini Police Project has helped to forge a positive relationship within the community and it’s a sign of its success that children are thinking about it as a career for themselves.

Robert Shaw Primary School

Since joining the Trust in 2017 Robert Shaw made a significant improvement as it jumped from Requires Improvement to Good in every single area. Importantly the school’s approach to diversity and tolerance was noted from the start as Ofsted reported “This is a school that celebrates diversity and is proud to serve the community” and highlights its global curriculum. From their first day at Robert Shaw, children begin their learning journey understanding what it means to be good citizens of Nottingham and then widening their lens to learn how to be citizens of the world. The pupils told inspectors “It doesn’t matter what colour your skin is, or what your beliefs are. What matters is your personality and who you are”. The hard work of every member of staff on this incredible journey was clear to see and this is rewarded and respected by their community. They are an ambitious learning community and keen to continue the excellent progress they have made.

Robert Shaw Primary School

Another success story is our wonderful Whitegate Primary School’s rise from Requires Improvement in 2017 to another solid Good in its recent 2021 report. Its curriculum and leadership were noted, as the report explains: “Leaders have planned the curriculum with great care” and have mapped exactly what they want pupils to learn, meaning any learning gaps from lockdown closed quickly. Children told inspectors that their grown-ups cared for them, and they feel safe and happy at school. Staff praised the leadership for caring and respecting them and being mindful of their workload. The hard work of every member of staff on this incredible journey was clear to see.  Delighted to be part of the Transform Trust family, Whitegate are ambitious and have plans in place to continue ensuring all pupils achieve their best.

William Booth Primary School

Since William Booth’s Inadequate report in 2010 the school has been stepping up its commitment to diversity and equality. Roll on 10 years and Ofsted has verified their efforts. The report begins with “Pupils are at the heart of this inclusive school” and praise continues throughout for its nurturing and supportive environment. Leaders were also commended for ‘want[ing] everyone to be successful learners and pupils are very keen to learn. The pupils told inspectors “We are all human beings. We are all a team”. This collaborative approach and hard work from every member of staff has resulted in a strong and vibrant culture where everyone belongs.  A dedicated member of the Transform Trust family, their highly motivated staff team want to continue building on their Good grading to boost outcomes for all pupils.

A note from the CEO, Rebecca Meredith, Transform Trust

Transform Trust CEO Rebecca Meredith added “We are so proud of our family of schools – we are all on a journey of improvement every day. As a Trust, it is our duty to ensure our schools deliver the best education, learning experiences and environments for all of our children. The staff teams at each of our schools are devoted to the children and their community, and I know, together, we will continue to achieve great things. It is wonderful that Ofsted has recognised the immense effort and improvement to date. Every school’s inclusive nature is supported by high quality learning and enrichment and their community-focussed culture is underpinned with kindness, respect and fun. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can all achieve this year!
