Team Transform complete Race for Life and raise funds for Cancer Research UK

Seven members of the Transform Trust central team completed the Race for Life last month and raised much needed funds for Cancer Research UK.

The team took part in the 5k Pretty Muddy obstacle course, climbing, crawling and sliding their way across the finish line. The sun shone down on teams of fundraisers bravely making their journey around the obstacle course, supporting each other every step of the way.

The Race for Life is open to everyone, no matter their fitness level, background, or gender. Participants come from different backgrounds, with different stories, but with one thing in common – the determination and willpower to raise money and help beat cancer.

Transform Trust share this determination and have their own story to share following the tragic loss of  Jon Fordham. An exceptional father, husband and Headteacher who led Allenton Community Primary School before being diagnosed with cancer late last year.

The Transform Trust team therefore wanted to stand with their much loved and respected colleague and friend, Helen Fordham, and work towards a fundraising goal together. Every penny raised is vital for research as 1 in 2 people will now be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound donated makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s ground-breaking work.

The members of staff that raced this year were Claire Smith, Tanya White, Rachel Meli, Helen Fordham, Trish Wilson, Rebecca Williamson and Liz Barratt. Donations flooded in from across the trust, ensuring that the runners more than doubled their £500 target.

Race for Life 5k events happen across the UK, so if you would like to take part in a fundraiser you won’t need to travel too far to find one.

We are so proud of our team here at Transform Trust and all of the year-round fundraising efforts made by our colleagues, communities and schools. This important work and kindness in action allows for new discoveries, ground-breaking research and targeted help to those who need it most.

At last count, the team fundraised over £1000 for Cancer Research UK, to donate and find out more, you can visit the following link: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/team-transform-1
